Marc Cycles into His 30s

If you know Marc, then you know that he is an avid cyclist—which is why when he turned down a trip abroad for something much closer to home that involved his bike, it wasn’t much of a surprise. What was a surprise was that the annual One Day Ride Across Michigan (ODRAM) was help this year on Marc’s birthday, making the decision to forgo travel plans even easier.

“You only turn 30 once.

So why not ride across the state?”

ODRAM is a one-day ride that takes you west to east across Michigan’s lower peninsula. The route from Rothbury Michigan, across the state to Bay City State Recreation Area is roughly 150 miles and the ride hosts more than 500 participants as a fundraiser for juvenile diabetes.

This day was all about Marc, so of course we did it as a family including Juneau!

We kicked off our day at the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, which is on the west coat of Michigan, near Lake Michigan. From here, Marc set off with a group on a 7:00 a.m. departure.

Once they left, Katelyn headed off along a planned route for support vehicles to meet Marc along the route with food and extra water.

It was a pretty warm day so while at “rest stations” along the route, Juneau and Katelyn did their best to stay cool and enjoy the festivities. Waiting and being patient isn’t a quality Juneau possesses.

After riding for six and a half hours, Marc was the third ODRAM rider to cross the finish line in Bay City! During that time he rode 144 miles at an average speed of 22.7 miles per hour.
