About Us

As two working professionals with increasing workloads, endless meetings, and rapidly approaching deadlines it was all too easy to push vacation plans aside as we focus on our careers. 

Recognizing the importance of rest, relaxation, and resetting, we set off to unplug and put our PTO hours to good use. 

Out of Office Adventure is full of our stories of making the most out of our time away from the office and how traveling enriches our lives, careers, and relationship.

Meet Katelyn

Katelyn, a communications professional working in in the middle of Detroit’s automotive industry. She spends her days collaborating and acting as a conduit to bring together the auto giants to work on common issues such as talent, policy, and tech. The coolest part of her days is when she gets to ride along in self-driving vehicles. Outside of work she spends her time being crafty, binge watching shows, and adventuring outside with their dog. When traveling Katelyn looks to visit non-traditional tourist places and she’s very un-adventurous about food. You can follow her at @katelynshelby. 

Meet Marc

By day, Marc is a Lighting Designer at the Detroit Institute of Arts where he spends his time lighting the artwork of some of history’s most notable artists from around the world. When he leaves the museum he is an avid cyclist, fly fisherman (and fly maker), and enjoys aimlessly hiking and exploring. Marc is vegan and is always on the lookout for amazing new foods when he travels. Oh yeah, and he’s a coffee addict! You can follow him at @marcxlanglois.
